Company History


1948 Founded by the late Shotaro Kitamura, former Executive Managing Director of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.
1954 Started as the Japanese general agent for the Salen Skau Gjen Line North American route. Knutsen Line, a Norwegian member, opened a regular route between Japan and Western Australia.
1962 Began acting as the Japanese general agent for Salen Shipping Companies, the world's largest refrigerated shipping company at the time (later: Lauritzen Cool). Started brokering services for small refrigerated ships sailing to West Africa and the Mediterranean.
1964 Engaged in the transportation of frozen fish, frozen meat, fruits, and other goods by handling the brokering of small refrigerated transport ships owned by the American Marine Chartering Corp, sailing from West Africa to Puerto Rico.
1971 Second president, Shoji Kitamura, takes office.
1985 Elected as a Japanese member of the Multiport Ship Agencies Network, a global organization of shipping agents.
1988 Began full-scale used car transportation to New Zealand and Georgetown.
1998 Agency for container collection for Southeast Asia by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.'s regular routes.
1999 Third president, Kenta Kitamura, takes office. Began acting as an agent for American Independent Line.
2002 Spun off the shipping business. Became a 100% subsidiary of INTEROCEAN Co., Ltd., INTEROCEAN SHIPPING CORPORATION.
2003 Started agency business for JEBSENS.
2012 Fourth president, Shigetaka Sugai, takes office. Established as INTEROCEAN SHIPPING CORPORATION.
2013 Headquarters relocated to 2nd Floor, Shinkawa Frontier Building, 1-25-12 Shinkawa, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan (Current location).
2022 New building name, Lucid Square Shinkawa.
